  • Identifying value opportunities in local commissioning

    West Cheshire PCT and CCGs have used Right Care principles to identify improvements to service quality, better outcomes and savings.

    They have used data analysis, service reviews and business process engineering techniques to generate £7m in reinvestment savings across three service areas as part of a successful £15m QIPP programme.

    The approach has been replicated in other CCGs in the region and has contributed to successful CCG authorisation panel reviews.

  • Wave 3 authorisation applications received

    The authorisation process for clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) remains on schedule, with the receipt this week of applications from CCGs in wave 3.

    All 63 proposed CCGs in the third wave have submitted their applications to the NHS Commissioning Board, which is responsible for supporting the development of CCGs as they move through authorisation.

    The outcomes of wave 3 are due to be considered by the NHS Commissioning Board in February 2013, and the final wave of CCGs will submit their applications in November.
