  • Framework defines the role of advanced clinical practitioners in healthcare

    Health Education England (HEE) has launched a new national framework that sets out a vision for the further development of advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs).

    The framework includes a national definition and standards for the multi-professional advanced level of practice.

    ACPs enhance capacity and capability within multi-professional teams by supporting existing and more established roles. They also help to improve clinical continuity, provide more patient-focused care, and help to provide safe, accessible and high-quality care for patients.

  • Publication of the Community mental health survey 2017

    Findings have been published by the Care Quality Commission from the latest survey on patient experience of community mental health services. More than 12000 people took part who were seen for mental health conditions last autumn. Around two-thirds reported a positive experience of overall care but responses suggest scope for further improvements in a number of areas including: crisis care, access and coordination of care, involvement in care and monitoring the effects of medication. The survey contributes to NHS England’s Overall patient experience score, which has been updated alongside a diagnostic tool for understanding patient experience data.

  • Primary Medical Care – Policy and Guidance Manual (PGM) published

    NHS England has published the Primary Medical Care Policy and Guidance Manual (PGM), which supersedes the ‘Policy book for primary medical services’ published in January 2016.

    The PGM is part of a suite of policies and procedures published by NHS England to support commissioning and contract management of primary care.

    PCC are supporting NHS England by delivering five events to raise awareness of the PGM.   • Commissioning children's palliative care in England: 2017 edition

    This report highlights that only a third of CCGs in England are implementing NICE clinical guidance to the prioritisation of palliative care for babies, children and young people. It finds that while 93% of CCGs commission community children's nursing services, only 67% provide this service out of hours and at weekends.
