• CCGs to be rated for patient and public participation

    NHS England has developed a new indicator of patient and public participation as part of its statutory annual assessment of CCG performance. The red/amber/green rating will be based on CCG annual reports (2016/17) and other publicly available information. The rating scheme follows publication in April of revised statutory guidance for CCGs and NHS England commissioners on patient and public participation in commissioning health and care. The ratings are expected to be published this summer.

  • Updated patient decision aids for CCGs

    NHS RightCare and the patient centred care team have published updated versions of 28 patient decision aids that have been developed for CCGs to share with clinicians. The aids are designed to support patients and clinicians to have informed conversations about treatment for their condition. They are available on the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Evidence Search website. CCGs can discuss these with their NHS RightCare delivery partner.   • Guide to engagement for sustainability and transformation plans

    NHS England has published national advice for local health and social care leaders preparing sustainability and transformation plans (STPs). The advice sets out how to put the communities they serve at the heart of their work.

    The document aims to clarify expectations on stakeholder involvement, in particular patient and public participation. It also covers legal duties around engagement and consultation.

  • Patient choice: support for CCGs

    NHS England and NHS Improvement have co-developed a CCG choice, planning and improvement guide to assess how well choice is working in the services they commission. The vision is that all patients should be aware of care choices available to them and have the information they need to be able to make an informed decision that meets their needs and preferences.
