The principles of project management

Good project management is of the art of getting a successful outcome using the resources available. This is more important than ever in health and social care where managers are under increasing pressure to deliver better outcomes and greater efficiency in every aspect of their work.

Project management requires a specific set of skills, some of which we possess naturally and can learn to use more effectively. But it also requires knowledge and a well-defined approach. This one day training session on 10 October in Manchester13 December in Leeds and 16 January 2017 in London is for everyone who has responsibility for projects or is part of a project team.

Delegated commissioning approval process for 2018/19: submission process for CCGs

NHS England is encouraging CCGs to apply for delegated commissioning of primary medical services as part of a wider strategy to support the development of place-based commissioning. NHS England has invited CCGs that do not currently have delegated arrangements to apply between now and 1 November 2017.

NHS standard contract 2017-19: consultation on proposed national variation

When the NHS standard contract 2017-19 was published NHS said it would only be amended within the two year period except to reflect national policy changes. As a national variation is now required NHS England has published consultation documents. Stakeholders are invited to comment on the proposals by emailing england.contractsengagement@nhs.net by 10 November 2017.

Obesity prevalence increases in reception age primary school children

The prevalence of obesity has risen for the second successive year from 9.3% in 2015/16 to 9.6% in 2016/17 for children in reception.

Obesity prevalence was more than twice as high among children in year 6 than in reception age children, according to the latest figures from NHS Digital.
