Systems integration to boost NHS communication

NHS staff will be able to communicate with each other through better integrated systems, thanks to new plans announced by NHS Digital. The plans will eventually see users being able to log into a range of applications and services, integrated with Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), using their NHSmail credentials.

The initiative will integrate NHSmail, which uses Microsoft Exchange and Skype for Business to securely share patient information, with Office 365.

All NHS employees can use NHSmail, as can those organisations commissioned to deliver NHS services.

Next steps in updating guidance on ME and chronic fatigue syndrome

A workshop last month marked the formal start of NICE’s collaborative work to update its 2010 guideline on the diagnosis and management of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

The workshop was held so that stakeholders, including patient groups for people with ME/CFS and their carers, could help NICE identify at an early stage the issues they consider most important for the development of the new guideline.

Conflicts of interest pose a significant risk to CCGs and emerging integrated care systems (ICS), which could leave commissioners exposed to reputational damage or result in decisions being open to challenge.
