How to write the winning bid: responding to tenders and proposals

Putting the strengths of your organisation across is never more important than when you are bidding to win new business. Yet in their proposals and responses to tenders, many health and care providers fail to do themselves justice and waste time and effort on unsuccessful bids.

This workshop will guide you through the process of writing a successful bid, from understanding what the commissioner is looking for to tips on how to make a compelling case for your organisation. You will also learn how to avoid some of the common pitfalls in the procurement process.

The workshop is led by a consultant with extensive experience of evaluating responses in NHS procurements.

The event on 15 May in Manchester and 12 June in Birmingham is aimed at anyone with a need to respond to competitive tenders to provide NHS services, including groups of GP practices hoping to win contracts for new services, improve their knowledge of procurement processes and their understanding of the requirements of commissioners.

GMC gears up to support international doctors wanting to work in the UK

Hundreds more overseas doctors are applying to work in the UK each year, according to figures released by the General Medical Council (GMC).

The regulator assesses the skills of non-EU doctors who want to join the UK medical register, and is adapting to deal with an increased demand in the numbers applying to take the practical exam they must pass before they can work here.

Demand for the multiple choice and practical Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) exams means that the GMC is now adding additional test dates at weekends.
