NHS leaders operate in a climate of extreme pressure , says a new report from the King’s Fund. Staffing vacancies are rife, there are widespread challenges in meeting financial and performance targets and demands on services continue to increase. The report looks at what can be done to support future leaders and current ones.
A report from the Social Market Foundation argues that current social care system is putting pressure on families to step in and provide care for relatives where the state does not. It finds that there are more women with caring responsibilities in the professional and managerial occupations; the number of hours of care that family carers provide is rising overall; and the more hours of care a person provides, the more likely they are to reduce their hours of work or exit the workforce altogether.
